Falafel King

April 11, 2012

My new favorite place to get lunch in Downtown Crossing is Falafel King, tucked near the back of a strange corridor of fast food stands behind two nondescript glass doors on Winter Street. The line is long during lunch but moves quickly and a very friendly man (the owner?) will give you a free falafel dipped in hummus while you decide what you want. I recommend the King Special roll-up – lovely Middle Eastern flat bread, romaine, Israeli salad, your choice of meat (I got for lamb kabob), falafel, hummus, yogurt sauce, and optional hot sauce for $7.30.

My Blackberry camera lens is hard to keep clear but just look at all that lamb!

Kind of as an addendum to things I have been eating near the office – finally had Saus’s lovely dough-based waffle studded with pearl sugar and a sauce. My favorite is the lemon cream followed by the Berry Berry:
